Cleaning methods for different pieces of feed mill production equipment (Part 1)

Equipment cleaning is somewhat of a headache for the feed mill, especially if you are running a busy factory. However, if you ignore this problem, the feed products are not guaranteed to have a stable level of long-term quality. What we are referring to here is the part that can affect the quality of the product, mainly focusing on the inside of the device.

1. Cleaning the mixer

After using the internal mixer over a period of time, it will have accumulated a layer of feed. If it is high in oil content, it will have accumulated a thick layer of feed after an operating shift. Some internal part of the mixer will not only come with fuel injection device, but also a liquid fungicide nozzle and a liquid methionine nozzle, therefore in the inner wall of the mixer, beside the nozzle, on the axis and the blades, opening and closing door will gather the  feed into one place. As a result of this, the general feed mill will start to clean up after the end of operation. Switch off the power before cleaning. A special tool will scrape the feed off the inner wall, the nozzle, the blade and the shaft. After cleaning up, open the mixer door, then clean up the door and the sealing ring. Some of the mixers are relatively large. People need to enter the mixer in order to clean them. The security work is particularly important here. Not only does the machine need to be locked, but it also needs to have someone to be a look-out. After clean up, the person who entered the mixer is responsible to turn on the power box lock.

Mixer cleaning frequency: once in every 1 to 3 days is appropriate.

2.Cleaning the granulation system

The granulation system is composed of a granulator, a cooler, a crusher and a grading sieve. The most important thing to clean is the modulator and the grain chamber. This is because steam enters the parts mentioned above and processes with the feed. It will increase the moisture levels, heat levels and the viscosity of the feed. It also easily sticks to the inner wall of the modulator, shaft and paddle. The granule cavity structure is complex. Feed accumulates almost everywhere and the granulation machine modulator is more difficult to open, so not necessary to clean these parts often. In order to ensure consistent product quality, the clean-up should be weekly to fortnightly to be more appropriate for efficient product maintenance. If the machine is shut down for a particularly long time, it should be opened and cleaned to prevent musty feed mildew from developing. The granulating chamber should be completely cleaned up at the end of each operating shift after applying the oil. When the feed is adjusted, if there is a cross contamination of two varieties, it must be cleaned up before processing the next type of feed.

3. Cleaning the permanent magnet tube

The permanent magnet tube is used to remove magnetic substances, such as iron. Iron filings have an impact on the feed and are harmful to the equipment. Failure to clean up the equipment may cause damage to the equipment, and may also affect the rate that the feed passes through the machine and cause blockages. It is advisable to clean up once after every shift. The impurities that are cleaned by the magnetic tube are treated as waste.

4. Cleaning of the initial screening sieve, finished products inspection sieve and grading sieve

The initial screening sieve, finished products inspection sieve and grading sieve are used for cleaning and removing impurities and grading, which can be easily blocked, particularly, when the impurities are large, the initial screening sieve is more easily blocked and needs to be cleaned in time. Regularly, after each operating shift, open the sieve we previously mentioned, clean the rope head, impurities, hard blocks, etc. Inside, keep the sieve clean and the mesh unblocked. The feed shall be dealt with according to the situation. Some can be used again.

5. Cleaning the pulse bag dust collector and cyclone dust collector

The pulse bag dust collector and cyclone dust collector are equipment used for collecting dust. Dust is adsorbed on the surface of the bag and delivered to a silo or inside the bag. After running for a long time, the inner wall or outer wall of the bag will accumulate with a thick layer of dust, it is suggested to open the door at the end of each operating shift and clean it with sticks and compressed air. The cyclone dust collector is not easily opened. Observe the glass observation hole every day to make sure it is not blocked or whether the wind trap is functioning or not, if any of these problems arise, they should be handled in a timely manner. After cleaning up the accumulated feed, tap the brake with a rubber hammer, tapered cylinder and knock down the accumulated feed onto the inner wall of the backlog.
